Active for Life
Active For Life classes run three times per week at the Stour
Centre (Monday 1pm, Wednesday 11am and Friday 10am) and are
designed to help people aged 50 and over set and achieve physical
activity goals while improving their overall quality of life.
The exercise sessions are circuit based and are a great way to
meet new people and have fun whilst improving your health and
fitness.
Taking part in regular physical activity has been proven to help
the individual achieve the following physiological benefits;
- Improves the efficiency of the heart and the lungs
- Leads to increased blood and oxygen supply to essential working
organs and muscles
- Improved flexibility
- Improved strength
- Improved stamina
- Improved bone strength
- Allows the individual to keep active for longer periods of time
without getting out of breath
- Improved quality and quantity of sleep
- Improved digestion
Also, keeping active means a lower risk of developing obesity,
heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and depression.
Even moderate amounts of physical activity have enormous health
benefits, not just for the body, but for the mind also.
Aqua for Life
An ideal class in the water for those who are over 60 or who
have specific medical conditions that could benefit from this type
of activity. Classes run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
3pm-3.45pm.
