Julie Rose StadiumNestling beneath the beautiful North Downs with stunning views along the Stour Valley and across Conningbrook Lakes, the Julie Rose Stadium makes a dramatic backdrop for a variety of events. The stadium, named after a local middle-distance runner who was killed in an air crash in 1985, was opened by Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson on May 18 1997 and is now regarded as one of the finest athletics facilities in the country. Built by Ashford Borough Council for £3.4 million, the Julie Rose has hosted international athletics meetings and been visited by sporting luminaries including Colin Jackson, Dame Kelly Holmes and Sir Steve Redgrave. 2009 World Champion bronze medal winner and Olympian Lisa Dobriskey honed her skills on the Julie Rose track as a member of Ashford Athletics Club. In September 2004 the extension to the stadium was opened by Olympian hurdler Colin Jackson. The Colin Jackson Suite is available to hire for a variety of functions such as, wedding receptions, conferences and meetings. The Julie Rose Stadium can be found at: Willesborough
